Backup and restore

The whole library in one file, and how to bring it back.

Make a backup

Settings › Sync and Safety › Back Up the Library saves every folder and page, with their order, looks, titles, inks and targets, in one file. Keep it somewhere safe: an external drive, another cloud, an email to yourself.

Restore

Settings › Sync and Safety › Restore from Backup brings the folders in the file back beside the ones you have; nothing is replaced. If a folder with the same name is already there, the restored one is called "… (restored)". Your own ink colours come back with the letters typed in them.

Your files, anywhere

You don't need a backup to read your writing elsewhere: every page is a plain text file in iCloud Drive › Dactylo, inside a folder for each of your folders.
