Troubleshooting
When the keys don't type, pages don't sync, or something looks wrong.
The keys don't type (iPad)
Tap the machine once: the keyboard goes back to it. If a text field elsewhere (a name, a title) is being edited, the keyboard stays with it until you close it.
The letters on the keys are wrong
On the Mac, the keys follow the keyboard layout chosen in the menu bar. On the iPad, Dactylo learns each key as you press it; type a few letters and the machine catches up.
Pages don't appear on my other device
- Check that both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account with iCloud Drive on.
- Check Settings › Sync and Safety › iCloud Sync on both.
- Open Dactylo on both devices: changes arrive within seconds while it is open, otherwise when iCloud next syncs.
- Low Power Mode and poor connections can delay iCloud.
A page called "From another device"
Two devices changed the same page before seeing each other's change. Dactylo kept both: compare them and keep what you want. See iCloud sync.
No sound
Check Settings › Typing › Typewriter Sounds, the device's volume and, on the iPad, the silent switch or Control Center.
The machine looks small or cut off
In Whole Machine, double-click (or double-tap) the desk to go back to the standard view, or turn on Fit Everything (⌥⌘F).
Still stuck?
Write to support@dactyloapp.com: say which device and system version you use, what you did and what you saw. A screenshot helps.
