§ ·Writing
Page titles and the page header
Name a page, and print its title and date at the top of the sheet.
Naming a page
Every page can have a title. To name the page in the machine:
- tap or click its title (or the faint Untitled) at the top of the sheet, or
- on the Mac, click the window title, or
- in the library, open the page's menu and choose Rename Page….
The title shows in the library and, if you like, at the top of the page.
The page header
Settings › Paper › Page Header prints a small header in the top margin of every page, on the machine, in the manuscript and in the PDF of typed pages:
| Part | Where |
|---|---|
| Title | The page's name, on the left |
| Date | The day the page went into the machine, on the right |
| Time | The hour and minute beside the date |
Turn each part on or off. A page without a title shows a faint Untitled on the machine while the guides are on, so you can tap it and name the page; it is never printed.
A standard manuscript for publishers has its own header (surname / title / page number) and doesn't use this one.
