Ink colours

The ribbon selector, writing blind, and mixing inks of your own.

The ink selector

On the right side of the machine there is a small selector with a knob and coloured studs: black, red, green and blue, and a chrome stud for no ink. Tap a stud, or drag the knob along its slot, to switch the ribbon. The Ink key in the key column and Settings › Type and Ink › Ink do the same.

Every letter keeps the ink it was typed in, so you can type a title in red and the text in black, or mark notes in green.

Writing blind

With No Ink the keys strike but leave nothing on the paper: a trick some writers use to keep going without rereading. The letters are still in your text; switch the ink back to see new letters again.

Your own inks

In Settings › Type and Ink › Ink, under My Colours, mix up to twelve inks of your own. Each one keeps its colour on any paper. If you remove an ink, the letters already typed in it keep their colour.

On dark paper

On dark paper, black ink turns light so it can be read. In a PDF, dark paper is printed as light paper.
